![]() The app basically lets you shoot portions of the scape around you and then stitches them back together to create a 360-degree panorama. Rooms with lots of objects in them are not recommended, though you can try using a steady hand and Google’s instructions. Choose a big location, not a tool shedīecause the stitching technology in Photo Sphere Camera is not 100% reliable, Google recommends that you use this one for landscapes, or any area that’s really big, like a crater, a glacier lake, a stadium, a canyon, an open field, etc. It should be pointed out, however, that users have the chance to associate their new photo spheres with various establishments pinned to Google Maps. So whatever Google is up to (and they’re not always up to something), you can just download Photo Sphere Camera and make yourself some awesome 360 panoramas to leave your friends in awe, or just keep them to yourself. Google has made it easier for users to check all their content, both spheres that have been made public and those that remain private by adding in two tabs to track the content. The app also comes with an “Explore” tab that allows you to check out photo spheres from other photographers around the world. You can also say "no" to the device diagnostic prompt. But you can just grab Photo Sphere Camera and use it locally, without having to upload the images to Maps. Sure, if you put two and two together you might say it’s all a tad too orchestrated for Google to grab more device information while at the same time improve its mapping service. But it does fit the bill if you’re the paranoid type. The app also tends to crash, which conveniently allows Google to ask for diagnostics information to fix the problems. Google is making new inroads in data collecting by offering customers a way to shoot 360 degrees images with their iPhones with the ability to upload those images to Google Maps. ![]() ![]() ![]() This isn’t an indication of puzzles that are too easy, rather another sign of the game’s dedication to constant, smooth motion. They test your brain without being obnoxious I never got stuck for more than a minute or so, and even that was rare. The world offers puzzles in place of enemies, and I enjoyed all of them. Overall, great game, Don't think this game is worth full price, $40, wait for a sale like I did for like half off.(Image credit: Giant Squid/Annapurna Interactive) Eagle aid that's still somewhat of a short game though. Game length is somewhat short, took only like 5hrs, and that's not completing everything. Game desperately needed a mini map/map of some sort that highlighted better of where to go. You could make the argument that the battles feel out of place if you were expecting something more like Abzu. This isn't really a negative, but the boss fights are like heavily borrowed from other games like Zelda, with movesets that match Gannon or calamity gannon, I thought that was odd because the game is like half puzzle, then the rest is battles. ![]() I will say some of the action is unclear at first what to do, and it does get repetitive that the boss fights only use fire and no other elemental abilities. I think that kind of makes it less impactful as you know you just have to get the patterns down and thus you win. which is somewhat of an odd choice considering how there's five boss fights. Cons -You can't lose, there's no game over. The story is an welcomed addition as it adds more meaning and it is kind of like an abridged story, as the game is only a few hours -Rather well designed boss fights, which offer a challenge -Puzzles for the most part are proper difficulty, not too difficult but still makes you think. It does however at times feel somewhat empty or takes awhile to get to the next area to complete a puzzle Pros -Great music that fits the different environments and intense battles, and the voice acting is decent -Having an eagle as an companion is always a plus haha -Great design of the characters, better improvement of Abzu -Being able to traverse by gliding with your eagle or using the targets that you destory with your bow and arrow to gain speed makes is rather unique. What this game does better than Abzu is that it offers a lot more puzzles and interaction with the environment, with also some intense battles too. When I played this game I was like this seems to be influenced by Abzu and Zelda/breath of the wild, makes sense it's from the same developers When I played this game I was like this seems to be influenced by Abzu and Zelda/breath of the wild, makes sense it's from the same developers of Abzu. I'll leave it there, but The Pathless subverts a lot of usual gameplay tropes and generic mechanics to provide a wholly unique experience. They're a spectical but also a blast to play. Boss fights are 15-30 minute ventures that go through multiple stages/environments. These puzzles are very well designed, scattered evenly, and are up to you to find with minimal guidance. The gameplay loop revolves around solving environmental puzzles to get runes to initiate a boss fight before moving on to the next area. And on top of that I plan to replay it for my own enjoyment. Story took me ~8 hours but I'm going for 100% (which I never do) so I have a good 4 or so hours ahead of me at least. The boss fights are some of the absolute coolest I've ever played. The traversal mechanic feels so good and is so fun to master. A few brief things before I get into specifics. ![]() This is one of the greatest games I've ever played, and I don't say that lightly. The emotional charge of Jane's story is as strong today as it was more than 150 years ago, as she seeks dignity and freedom on her own terms. If the case be otherwise, I beg his pardon and extend to him the cordial hand of fellowship and call him brother. The difference lies wholly in the kinds of books toward which. I speak now, of course, in the supposition that the gentle reader has not been abroad, and therefore is not already a consummate ass. No, gentle readers cannot be distinguished from ungentle, precipitous, or ordinary readers by any lines of age, occupation, or class. A flagship of Victorian fiction, Jane Eyre draws the reader in by the vigour of Jane's voice and the novel's forceful depiction of childhood injustice, of the restraints placed upon women, and the complexities of both faith and passion. The gentle reader will never, never know what a consummate ass he can become until he goes abroad. Routine at the mansion is further disrupted by mysterious incidents that draw the pair closer together but which, once explained, threaten Jane's happiness and integrity. The monotony of Jane's new life at Thornfield Hall is broken up by the arrival of her peculiar and changeful employer, Mr Rochester. At the age of eighteen, sick of her narrow existence, she seeks work as a governess. ![]() ![]() ![]() "Gentle reader, may you never feel what I then felt!" And no text has been used against Judaism more than “an eye for an eye.” It is known in Latin as lex talionis, “the law of retaliation.” Lex talionis is repeated elsewhere in the Torah in even more extreme tones, and includes not only parts of the body, but life itself: “a life for a life.” (Ex. Nonetheless, the stereotype persists, and often when a newcomer to Torah study encounters some of the Torah’s harsher pronouncements, they assume that Judaism still stands for these ancient codes, and their prejudices are confirmed. Jews and Christians are originally “cut from the same cloth.” I am encouraged by the rapid spread of this emerging understanding, which undermines the premises of anti-Semitism and provides a fertile common ground for a new kind of relationship between our sibling traditions. The interpretation of Torah and reinvention of Judaism undertaken by the 1st centuries Rabbis (and their predecessors and descendants) line up closely with the teachings of Jesus, himself obviously a 1st-century Jewish teacher. Now, in my transformative explorations with wonderful Christian colleagues of the 1st century origins of Christianity and Rabbinic Judaism, we have put the lie to that ancient Christian self-justification. In that telling, when Christianity emerged, Judaism somehow became frozen in time, rejecting the New Testament, forever stranded in the obsolete ancient paradigm of harsh justice that Christianity was here to transcend. ![]() I think it is necessary to continue to remind us of this fact because of the durable stereotype that much Christian thought foists upon the Jews: Judaism is the religion of law, while Christianity is the religion of love. Even though the Torah is our fixed and sacred literature, it serves not as the last word but as the foundation of a legal and ethical tradition that emerged as early as 500 B.C.E. One of my recurring themes in my writings is the effort to demonstrate the evolving nature of Jewish tradition. That way the whole world will be blind and toothless.” (Tevye, in Fiddler on the Roof)Īh, I get to mention Fiddler on the Roof and Torah in the same sentence – it’s already a good day!īut more than that pleasure, Tevye (as usual) speaks for Jewish tradition. If someone would have asked David what he was doing on the roof, most likely would have said “nothing, just looking.” That one moment of lapse in judgment led to adultery and murder - although it appeared that David learned his lesson from this painful experience (Psalm 101:3). In more practical terms, if something we see on TV or Internet makes us sin, until we get victory over that particular sin, we are better-off without a TV or Internet service.įor David, would have been much better to go off to battle the enemy rather than going up to the roof of his palace and stare at Bathsheba bathing (2 Samuel 11:2-4). If something is tempting us to sin, it is better to cut that thing entirely out of our view. It means that when we are tempted by what we see, we are much better-off to deprive ourselves of that particular brief moment of pleasure in favor of eternal life. Heavenly Bodies is available for PS4/PS5, PC and Mac (via Steam) the latter of which is where my time with the game was spent. Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done and doesn’t detract from the experience. Sound design is solid and minimalist as one might expect from a game set in outer space. Heavy film grain is employed by default which adds a nice touch to the overall look and feel, though it can be turned off in the options if you choose. Most all puzzles can be traced visually which is particularly satisfying when combined with clues delivered via the operations manual. It successfully conveys exactly how interactable objects function in order to help the player solve puzzles. ![]() The art design in Heavenly Bodies leans on contemporary 70s real world examples. So despite having to sometimes fight the controls to get where you’re going, the game is inviting with it’s mission structure and overall aesthetic and design. If the player finds the controls too unwieldy and confusing, there is an “assist” option which makes navigation much easier for those just looking to experience the game. When it comes to missions, Heavenly Bodies strikes a nice balance between giving players safe tasks they’ve grown accustomed to, while also introducing more advanced mechanics. No job ever seems too big and the operations manual received at the start of each mission relays just enough info to make you feel like you’re still solving things for yourself. Other instances, though, can produce frustration because sometimes you just! Want to! Grab! The lever! The controls are both it’s saving grace and it’s most glaring weakness all at the same time. It can be a comical sight spending several seconds trying to grab a flapping water hose. Players have to carefully grip and pull their way from point A to point B all while solving puzzles and maintaining the space station. As mentioned before, controls are primarily handled via the twin analogue sticks for the left and right arms. The hook for Heavenly Bodies can also be it’s weakness. While no true narrative is present in Heavenly Bodies, the missions do coalesce in a satisfying way and the final mission brings everything together in epic fashion. Navigating the environment, slowly piecing together exactly what you’re supposed to do, and then executing that plan is the challenge. If you don’t secure one hand to the wall or a firm handle, then you might find yourself spinning out uncontrollably away from the current objective. Jobs often have you handling tools such as wrenches or flashlights which could easily go flying off if not held onto carefully. Moving each arm is controlled with the two thumbsticks with the L2/R2 triggers acting as the hands. Assembling telescopes, mining for minerals, and growing plants for oxygen are just a few of the assignments given to the player. Players assume the role of a 1970s cosmonaut who’s responsible for tasks which mission control sends them via radio broadcast. However, with zero gravity and physically simulated controls, that’s easier said than done. The player’s job is to maintain a space station. ![]() 2pt Interactive wanted to make “a game about cosmonauts, the body, and the absence of gravity”. ![]() Heavenly Bodies isn’t a horror game, to be clear, but I did want to partially illustrate the setting that the developers chose. Whatever task or duty assigned is yours and yours alone, so failure, such as being shot out of an unsafe pressurized container into the vast void of space (as seen below) can certainly cause one’s heart to race. ![]() The feeling that nobody can come help you. At times it can be terrifying – the loneliness of space.
